Left

The smiles, they fade,
The laughter, away,
The joys of friends,
Reach their end,
And the tie has slipped away.

You saw their face,
But now their back.
The look in their eyes,
Darker than black.

There are no tears,
No pain, no fears,
No regret to spare,
They can't even stare.

Alone, alone,
Left in the dark,
Trapped in the corner,
Cold as rock.

They don't come back,
You sit and wait,
Tick tock,
Tick tock.

The hour-glass goes,
Hour by hour,
Time just flows.

Time to think,
Time to wonder,
Time to regret,
And fill with thunder.

They continue to walk,
Gone and away,
Out the door,
Away from today.

There's nothing left,
They took it all,
The ribbons and chains,
Bonds and all.

They won't return,
Don't expect a knock,
Never again,
Will you be caught.

Protect yourself,
From the people outside,
Don't let them enter,
Don't let them inside.
